How To Use

How to Use CivixApp

A short guide for using the Civix app on your phone. Everything here is from a user’s perspective.

Home

When you open the app, you’ll see the Home screen. From here you can:

  • See your progress and test date
  • Start a Quiz or Practice session
  • Open Interview for mock or AI interview practice
  • Go to Settings to change language, theme, or profile

Quiz

Quiz lets you test yourself with civics questions.

  1. Tap Quiz on the home screen.
  2. Choose how many questions (e.g. 10, 20) and difficulty (Easy, Medium, Hard).
  3. Pick Learning Mode (see the correct answer after each question) or Exam Mode (no answers until the end, like the real test).
  4. Answer each question. At the end you’ll see your score and whether you passed.

Practice

Practice helps you study at your own pace.

  1. Tap Practice on the home screen.
  2. Choose a type:
    • Quick 10 — short set of easier questions
    • Official 20 — same length as the real civics test
    • Extended 50 — longer practice
    • By category — focus on a topic (e.g. American Government, History)
    • Favorites — only questions you’ve marked with a star
  3. Complete the session. You’ll get feedback as you go and a summary at the end.

Interview

The app has two interview-style practices:

  • Mock Interview — A guided practice that walks you through the kind of questions and steps you’ll see in a real naturalization interview (civics, reading, writing). Works offline.
  • AI Interview — A conversational practice with an AI officer. Requires an internet connection. Available with a premium upgrade.

Use whichever fits your needs. Both are for practice only and are not affiliated with USCIS.

Settings

Tap the Settings (gear) icon to:

  • Profile — Change your name and profile photo
  • Language — Switch app language (e.g. English, Spanish, Farsi, Pashto)
  • Theme — Light or dark mode
  • Test date — Set your planned naturalization test date so the app can help you prepare
  • Legal — Open Privacy Policy and Terms of Service

Offline

Most of the app works without internet:

  • Quiz, Practice, and Mock Interview work fully offline.
  • All 128 civics questions and your progress are stored on your device.
  • AI Interview needs an internet connection. If you’re offline, you can still use Mock Interview.

Tips

  • Practice a little every day rather than cramming.
  • Use Learning Mode first to see correct answers, then try Exam Mode when you’re ready.
  • Mark hard questions with the star so you can practice them in Favorites.
  • Set your test date in Settings so the app can tailor your practice.

If you have questions about your specific case or immigration process, contact an attorney or accredited representative. Civix is a study tool and is not affiliated with USCIS or the U.S. government.
